Development of a Smart Device for Intranasal Therapy Administration

This project focuses on the development of a smart intranasal device for drug administration in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Built with recycled materials and an ergonomic design tailored to the motor limitations of Parkinson’s patients, the device monitors and controls the entire administration process, ensuring precise, stable, and safe dosing. By minimising usage errors and optimising medication delivery, the device also reduces drug waste and its associated environmental impact.

About the Project

A device for a real clinical need

NeuroSoV (Fastprinciple, Lda.) develops innovative therapies focused on slowing the progression of Parkinson’s disease. The company has developed a molecule protected by an international patent granted in several countries and now needs a dedicated intranasal device to ensure its optimal delivery, even for patients experiencing tremors and other motor limitations characteristic of the disease. The device is designed to use artificial intelligence for autonomous data collection during each administration, controlling customized administration and regularity of the dose. The goal of this project is to validate the device’s solution architecture, leading the way for pre-industrialisation and certification as a Class 1 medical device.
